Congratulations to Blanc Burgers + Bottles, its management, its staff and its very loyal fans. The brand—which has locations in Kansas City, Mo.; Leawood, Kan.; and Omaha, Neb.—is the 2011 BurgerBusiness.com Burger Brackets Champion, repeating a feat it achieved last year as well.
Blanc’s win meant the end of the Cinderella run for Jake’s Wayback Burgers, the 27-store chain based in Cheshire, Conn., that started as a 15th seed in the Karcher bracket and refused to lose. It knocked off some big names—Jack in the Box, Fuddruckers, White Castle, Smashburger and, in the Final Four game, In-N-Out Burger—in making it to the final game. Jake’s and its customers deserve a round of applause for a great run. You can see the final Brackets spreadsheet here.
Blanc, the No. 1 seed in the Thomas bracket, also had to vanquish some tough competitors on the Road to the Top. First there was Mojo Burger, and then Red Robin, Hardee’s, Wendy’s and, in the Final Four round, Cheeseburger Bobby’s, which put up a strong and close fight.
Once again, the Burger Brackets have proved that there’s no brand relationship like the one customers forge with their favorite burger joint. Next year, we’ll demonstrate that truth once more.
