Carl’s Jr., which never has minded causing a bit of controversy, should ready itself for protests next week when it declares, “It’s never a bad time for bourbon” in a TV spot (below) for its new Kentucky Bourbon Burger. The commercial depicts a bourbon-craving surgeon who can’t wait to wrap up his work and gobble a huge Bourbon Burger.
The menu addition comes on the heels of Burger King’s creation of a Bourbon Whopper for its Whopper Bar unit, but Carl’s Jr. isn’t the sort to stop at just one burger. In addition to the basic Bourbon Burger ($2.99), the line includes a Double Bourbon Burger ($3.99) and Six Dollar Kentucky Bourbon Burger ($4.89). All are topped with a O-proof, sweet Kentucky bourbon sauce, along with bacon, garlic-pepper onion straws, pepper-Jack cheese, tomato and lettuce.
