Ξ Burger King is testing consumer response to the idea of rotating low-price specials through the week. In a variation of the daily King Deals it has offered in Canada, the chain in select U.S. markets is offering $1.69 sandwich specials on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In southern Wisconsin that means original Chicken Sandwiches are $1.69 on Mondays and Fridays, with Whoppers discounted to $1.69 on Wednesdays. Combo meals for those sandwiches are just $3.49. A company spokesperson confirmed the discount tactic as a “localized promotion” in a handful of markets.
Ξ McDonald’s latest discount tactic getting tryouts is “Mix and Match 2 for $4” pricing on Quarter Pounders with Cheese and Big Macs. McDonald’s also will roll out nationally its $1.99 Angus Snack Wrap promotion this week.

Ξ While continuing to promote its Footlong Quarter Pound Coney, Sonic is preparing to launch its new line of condiment-heavy “Loaded Burgers,” which join its menu next month with heavy ad support. Barkley in Kansas City, Mo., is Sonic’s agency.
