McDonald’s Gives New York a Supreme Compliment

mcd_denmark_nychiMcDonald’s ♥ New York. And bacon.

The world’s biggest restaurant chain has created its third bacon-topped burger bearing the New York name with the launch of its “Great Tastes of America” promotion in Scandinavia. In Denmark and Sweden, consumers can order the New York Supreme, a burger crowned with crisp bacon, Cheddar cheese and onion mayo. In Norway, the New York Supreme already has been cycled off and been replaced by a Chicago Star burger. A Hollywood Classic burger will replace it on March 30. Both these burgers have bacon and cheese as well.

In all three countries, those who prefer chicken can order the new Chicken Chicago Star—a crispy chicken patty with bacon, Cheddar, salsa and sour-cream-chive sauce—from the Great Tastes of America menu.

The New York Supreme joins the NYCrispy, a preium burger that has become a popular fixture on McDonald’s menus in Spain and Belgium. It takes its name from crispy onions, which are joined by cheese, tomato, lettuce, barbecue sauce and, yes, bacon.

Lastly there’s the New York quarter-pound burger on McDonald’s Japan’s Big America menu. The California Burger (with bacon and red-wine sauce) is the current feature. Texas and Hawaiian quarter pounders were earlier parts of the promotion.
