Burger King’s XT Line to Include 3 New Burgers

bk_xtburgersBurger King’s new line of 7-oz. XT (extra thick) burgers comes out under the Steakhouse name. The three-item line, rolling out this month, extends from a Steakhouse XT to a Smoky Cheddar Steakhouse XT and A.1. Steakhouse XT. Merchandising materials label the Smoky Cheddar version a limited-time member of the menu.

In doing so, Burger King chose not to introduce any of the Steakhouse XT burgers already included on the menu at its Whopper Bar concept location in Orlando, Fla. There it serves a Peppercorn Bacon Steakhouse XT, 3-Cheese Steakhouse XT and Mushroom & Swiss Steakhouse XT.

Burger King Chairman-CEO said last week that the Steakhouse XT will carry an introductory price of $3.99, a price promotion that he said franchisees have voted to support. That keeps the Steakhouse XT right at the $4 price ceiling most chains have tried to stay below. However, prices for other burgers in the XT line may be higher (with the A.1. Steakhouse XT value meal priced 50¢ higher than for the Steakhouse XT).

Additionally, with Lent beginning on Feb. 17, Burger King is dressing up its BK Big Fish sandwich with a Cilantro-Lime sauce, available through March. For Whopper fans, a Bacon and Cheese Whopper is being promoted in selected markets, as well.

Just tried BK Big Fish Sandwich with Cilantro-Lime sauce…. IT WAS AMAZING…….. A deff must try.. it’s tangy, citrusy, bite was a party to any palate that loves both lime and cilantro… I hope that burger king keeps this sandwich long after March.. When I say AMAZING I really mean AMAZING…I am craving 1 right now and I had it for lunch..

I tried the new Burger King fish sandwich with cilantro and lime this afternoon. It is, by far, the best fast food fish sandwich on the market. I still think the original BK Whaler sandwich from the 70′s and 80′s was the best ever, but this hefty, slightly tangy sandwich is a close second. Hey Burger King, leave this on the menu permanently!!AWEFULLY GOOD!!

I love this sandwich, but it just came out, so I will see how it sells at my store

I tried the cilantro lime fish. It was fine, but not particularly better than the regular fish. I’m more interested in the nutritional info regarding the sandwich. But considering it’s lent, I thought it was a nice effort on bk’s part to introduce a new sandwich – something different.

Loved the sandwich. The BK Big Fish is usually good but I wouldn’t order it without the cilantro lime variation. Also, can’t find the nutrition info, which is important to me. I imagine that it’s similar to the Big Fish, which is not so great.

the bk cilantro-lime fish is SO good. perfect amount of cilantro and just enough lime. had it last night and loved it. hope it becomes a menu mainstay.

I LOVED the sandwich. It is excellent on fish, but bet it would be dynamite on chicken too. Any chance to get the recipe?

I LOVE the new BK Cilantro Lime Fish Sandwich. Until I tried this sandwich, Burger King was NOT my favorite fast food place… Now It is my choice EVERY day.. LOVE, LOVE the Sandwich, however, one BK that I went to had the Cilantro Lime sauce on the bottom and tarter sauce on top bun. But another BK across town has Cilantro on both buns with no Tarter and it is even TASTIER! I hope Burger King does NOT take this off their menu. I also LOVE the price!! 2 for $4 in my town!

I love mushrooms and my favorite was the XT mushroom from BK, it had that crispy onion on the top, the flavor was absolutely amazing. I am very disappointed that they don’t have it anymore. :(

After veiwing your new XT burger commercial, I was left somewhat perplexed and confused as to the message your new “burger” commercial is attempting to leave with the public. In this commercial, there is obviously a man and what appears to be another man each eating the new XT burger, yet acts and seems to behave like a woman! The commercial appears to focus on these 2 individuals more so then the new XT burger which is what I thought this new commercial is supposed to be about or so I am led to believe. Being a parent and grandparent and being able to make decisions based on what I see, I have decided that I will never visit another Burger King restaurant as long as I live. Clearly, this commercial has another hidden and underlying message. No doubt, there are some in the communitty that will appreciate this kind of confusing “burger” message. I feel that Burger King has crossed the line in this commercial. As the commercial begins, I am clearly led to believe that this commercial is about a new XT burger (which is what I am expecting to see) but quickly begin to realize that the commercial is clearly and deceitfully about something else being camouflaged as a “burger” commercial. There really ought to be a warning prior to this commercial being seen as some may find it offensive in nature. Seeing as public sensitivity should always be first and foremost in mind when creating such commercials, I feel that Burger King has no doubt whatsoever wrecklessly abandoned “public sensitivity” with the creation of this commercial. Having stated this, I wish however to make it perfectly clear that I do not make judgement one way or the other regarding “lifestyles” but merely wish to state the obvious as I have enterpreted this commercial to be.
