Red Robin’s Wise Guy Burger: Who Moved My Cheesesticks?
I’m not sure if this should be featured on Food Network or Discovery Channel’s “Build It Bigger.” Red Robin Gourmet Burgers’ new Wise Guy Burger is a skyscraping blend of appetizer and entrée, or a cross between burger and pizza. Or both.
Whatever, it has possibilities. Yes, there’s a burger patty in there, and yes, those are mozzarella sticks propping up the bun. Also joining the party are marinara sauce, pepperoni slices, sliced banana peppers and tomato slices. It’s a limited-timer, available through Nov. 8 and priced in most locations at $9.49.
Also on the fall LTO menu is a Chicken Caprese Burger that continues the Italian theme with sliced mozzarella, balsamic-marinated tomatoes, pesto aïoli and Romaine lettuce topping a charbroiled chicken breast on a ciabatta bun. For those still hungry, a Caramel Apple Smoothie is the third menu addition.

Yikes! How do you bite into that thing? I guess the price isn’t so bad when you figure a burger will usually cost you $8 and mozzarella sticks would be an extra $4, but I’d be tempted to take the sticks off and enjoy them separately from the burger. Then again, I am not a “guy” so the “Wise Guy” burger isn’t exactly being marketed to me! What do you think the “Wise Gal” burger would be? A burger with a balsamic house salad on it?
Hmmmm…well I love everything else I had there…..the fried egg on the sandwhich was pretty tasty…and tower of onion rings goes with any meal….guess i will have to at least try this and see how it compares with the others……
Wonder how many calories are in that thing… I think I gained 10 lbs just looking at it!
I had one of these last night… WOW! It was of course very very very good. New favorite.
THe mozzerella cheese sticks worked perfectly! They were zesty, and then with the marinara and the pepperoni, wow I loved that thing.
@Calorie Conscious: I had this thing with a Rookie Magic, and Oreo Milkshake. I dont think I can eat anymore all week!
@Shawn, yeah the fried egg burger is pretty good!
Red Robin has sent out coupons to try this burger for only $5.99. The burger may sound super unhealthy but unlike the rest of Red Robin’s burgers, there is no mayo or mayo-based sauce on it, so the cheesesticks doesn’t seem as outrageous.
Here’s one guesstimation of the calorie count for the Wise Guy Burger (“nightmare” is their word, not mine):

Susie, the “Wise Gal Burger” would be the same burger, but every time a guy takes a bite of it the burger would ask you for another dollar. ;)
I just ate this thing and god was it awful.
I had a couple of them when they were intro’d at $5.99 and *LOVED* it! I’m pretty sad it appears to have been discontinued. First they take my 5 Alarm Burger and now they take this.
Dam it was good
