New Year’s Day has two traditions: One is the hangover; the second is the rich, fatty, protein-rich Hangover Burger that cures what ails you. Among those who’ll be ready to greet bleary-eyed revelers is Slater’s 50/50, the innovative concept with locations in Anaheim Hills, Huntington Beach and San Diego, Calif. It’s readying the Bloody Mary Burger, featuring a beef patty infused with Worcestershire and Tabasco sauces that’s topped with grilled tomato, garlic-stuffed olive tapenade and bacon-vodka sauce and served on a bacon-pretzel bun.
For many others–such as Big Daddy’s Burgers & Bar in Austin, Texas–Hangover Burgers are year-round menu features. Big Daddy’s is a half-pound of Texas beef topped with pepper-Jack cheese, a fried egg and bacon on a Krispy Kreme doughnut; served with Bloody Mary ketchup and fresh-cut fries. Hello, 2013.
